The Body Is Smart: Spiritual Activist Tools for Personal & Collective Change

A new online course with Morbid Anatomy. How do we tap into our bodies’ wisdom? And what roles can imagination and art play in this process?

Inspired by the spiritual activist teachings and practices of Gloria Anzaldúa, (Chicana-tejana poet-philosopher, artist, and author), this five-week course explores these and related questions. Anzaldúa used a variety of spiritual and esoteric technologies to activate her body’s wisdom: breath work, visualization, Tarot, pendulums, journaling, astrology, subtle energies, doodling, imaginal journeying, yoga, and more. We’ll draw from and build on these techniques as we deepen our understanding of our own embodied wisdom.

This course is experiential, experimental, and practical. Classes are recorded for those who can’t attend live. Starts Wednesday, September 2. Bonus material: Pre-recorded Yin Yoga Class & Short Meditation.

Conjuring Creativity with Gloria Anzaldúa, Led by Dr. AnaLouise Keating

This five-part series offers an introduction to Gloria Evangelina Anzaldúa (1942-2004), a Chicana-tejana poet-philosopher, artist, spiritual activist, and author whose work boldly challenges consensus reality and inspires us to enact new forms of creativity with which we can transform ourselves and our worlds.

Through an investigation of Anzaldúa’s theories of creativity, we explore questions like these: What’s the relationship between imagination, identity, embodiment, and transformation? How can inspiration and art-making facilitate individual and collective healing? How can we use spiritual technologies to support our creative work? How can meditation, art-making, and magic facilitate social justice?

Participants will leave this series with renewed enthusiasm for their artistic, creative, and intellectual practices, as well as specific strategies to uplift and support themselves and others.

(Classes will be recorded and archived for students who can’t make that time.)
