Author

I’m a lifelong lover of words, and I’ve aspired to be a published author since I was a child. I am the author, editor, or co-editor of over ten books. I believe that writing can be an important part of effecting progressive transformation.

Teacher

I’m a lifelong teacher! Even as a child, I practice-taught my stuffed animals and imaginary friends. These days, I teach courses in Multicultural Women’s & Gender Studies at Texas Woman’s University & yoga (favorite: Yin Yoga) at a Bloom Yoga, Denton.

Yoga

I’ve been a student of yoga for over 10 years & a teacher for 7. I believe that Yin yoga offers a beautiful method and praxis to cultivate our embodied wisdom, activate & strengthen our intuition, regulate our nervous systems, & keep our connective tissue healthy and hydrated.

Astrology

I’ve been an astrology enthusiast since graduate school, and I’ve been studying this ancient science since 2012. I study ancient Hellenistic astrology. I don’t view astrology as some type of fatalistic, deterministic system. Rather, astrology speaks to the beautiful sacred harmony of all existence: As above, so below; as within, so without. I bring astrology into my writing, my spiritual activism, and my yoga teaching.

SPEAKER

Given my love of teaching and my love of words, is it any surprise that I also enjoy speaking? I’ve spoken at various colleges, universities, and conferences. For recordings of some of the talks, podcasts, and more, check out my Events page

NEPANTLERA

Nepantleras are radical world-travelers and bridge-builders. As I explain in The Anzaldúan Theory Handbook, “Anzaldúa invented the word ‘nepantlera’ to articulate a specific type of mediator or agent of change who moves among multiple worlds and groups of people intentionally, to build bridges, create new alliances, and offer innovative perspectives that facilitate radical, progressive transformation.”

BLOOM YOGA DENTON

Bloom Yoga is a worker-owned yoga studio dedicated to an inclusive, healing, and empowering yoga practice. We hope to plant seeds that will help you root down, be present, move, grow, and change: to “bloom” into your truest self.

Offering in-studio and virtual classes, we’re dedicated to the following principles in everything we do:

Community | Connection | Democracy |
Equity | Inclusivity | Integrity |
Openness | Reflection | Respect |
Social Justice

The Anzaldúan Theory Handbook

In The Anzaldúan Theory Handbook AnaLouise Keating provides a comprehensive investigation of the foundational theories, methods, and philosophies of Gloria E. Anzaldúa.

Transformation Now!

In this lively, thought-provoking study, AnaLouise Keating writes in the traditions of radical U.S. women-of-color feminist/womanist thought and queer studies, inviting us to transform how we think about identity, difference, social justice and social change, metaphysics, reading, and teaching.

AnaLouise Keating has presented us with what is perhaps the biggest innovation in critical theory in decades: a roadmap for moving beyond oppositional frameworks and the conflict/resistance-based models of social change and identity that they invariably produce. New vistas for deep and sustainable change open up on the heels of Transformation Now!”  – Layli Maparyan, author of The Womanist Idea

AnaLouise’s yin class is phenomenal. Her cues and instructions are clear and she provides you with several options for a pose. Throughout the practice she shares information on the benefits of the poses and how it could affect you day to day. The mood of the class is very serene and you walk away feeling refreshed and grounded. I highly recommend this class.” – D.W.
